Shui Hau Wan, Lantau Bay Clean up

What to expect: 

We will have special bags, limited gloves, tongs, hand sanitizer and will give short cleanup briefings to participants as you arrive at different times. Participants will conduct the cleanup in groups of 4 for an hour. This cleanup effort will focus on picking up recyclable plastic. At the end of the pick up session, the same group will rinse off their recyclable/ suitable items. Our volunteers will take it to GREEN@Mui Wo recycle station for recycling.   

What to bring:

• Water Bottle (No single use plastic bottle, please)
• Comfortable shoes/ Closed toe shoes
• Personal gloves (Optional, No disposable gloves, please) 
• Extras pair of sandals (optional)   
• Swimsuit (optional) 

How to get there: 

You could take the Lantau bus number 11 or 11A from Tung Chung (right off the MTR Station) or Bus 1 or 2 or 4 from Mui Wo (right off the ferry pier) and get off at Lower Wan Lung. 

Bus Schedule

If you're taking a taxi, ask the driver to drop you off at Shui Hau Soccer Pitch 水口球場. 

After you get off ---> in front of the soccer pitch ---> walk into a path ---> pass a short bridge ---> look to the first right that leads to the bay. We are right there.

*give yourself plenty of commute time. The bus & taxi queues could be shockingly long on the weekends.

Cancellation: 

In the event of rescheduling due to unsuitable weather, an email will be sent, and we will move the event to the next suitable weekend.

For A Cleaner Ocean was born out of the founder Hillian Siu kitesurfed to Macau from Hong Kong to raise awareness in 2019. Subsequently, with our inaugural kitesurfing challenge kicked off in 2020, this environmental endeavour aims to raise funds for the betterment of our oceans by mobilizing the power of water sportsman and allies around the globe. Our mission is to inspire and promote awareness of Ocean Pollution, its impact on ecosystems and marine life, and contribute to the global response by combining advocacy and action into a single action.

The Ocean Material Group is a social enterprise focused on the innovative use of marine resources. We take the oceans centerstage, to build a community around impactful ventures beneficial to both society and the environment.
